MARIO BRASSARD
Living and working in Quebec City, Mario Brassard is a contemporary artist whose work focuses on the human figure. He has developed his practice through drawing from live models allowing him to closely study anatomy, posture, and movement. He has also worked with clay modelling allowing himself to be intertwined with the poses he’s sketching. His work reflects a strong interest of the body and its expression. Brassard works primarily with graphite and compressed charcoal, using these materials to create detailed drawings that capture both movement and stillness. His drawings invite viewers to look beyond surface appearance and engage with the expressive qualities within the body.
