AMEL CHAMANDY
Based in Montreal, Quebec, Amel Chamandy is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, glass, resin and photography. She began her artistic journey at a young age through painting and drawing but as practice evolved, she expanded into other disciplines. She also spent some time studying in Italy, where she further developed her artistic skills and perspective. Her work has since been exhibited internationally, reflecting the range of her creative process across multiple mediums. Her work is primarly inspired by nature and is characterised by the use of vibrant colours and diverse materials. Moving between practices she adapts her process to the unique possibilities of each medium. Her photographic projects have taken her to locations such as Barbados and Türkiye, where she documents landscapes and environments that influence her artistic vision. Across her body of work, she is interested in transforming familiar subjects into unexpected forms, encouraging viewers to see ordinary objects and scenes from a different perspective.
